Scholarship

At the 2009 Annual Meeting of the Members, the Johnston United Soccer Association Board of Directors announced the establishment of the Stewart McLeod Scholarship Fund, named in honor of former President and Founding member, Stewart McLeod.  Initial seed money for the scholarship was donated by Microsoft Corporation through its Corporate Citizenship program in re cognition of the many hours of volunteer service given to the organization by Coach Heath Brinke.  

 

The Stewart McLeod Scholarship program is intended to serve as a financial assistance program to serve underprivileged or needy youth the opportunity to train, develop and play youth soccer in our community.

 

Scholarships are available for all levels of play offered by the organization and may cover a variety of costs including registration fees, uniforms, team dues and camp fees (if applicable).


To be considered, candidates must submit a completed application form, along with ALL required information by the appropriate deadlines.

 

Fall Deadlines: 

·          June 1 for Challenge and Classic play                            

·          July 1 for Recreation play

 

Spring Deadlines: 

·          January 15th for all levels of play

 

To be eligible, candidates must first demonstrate a financial need for assistance, as well as commit to making 75% of all practices and games for the season.  A commitment of volunteer hours to the organization may also be required.

 

A committee made up of a minimum of 3 non-conflicted members, including at least 1 voting Board Member will review all applications.  The review process will include scoring & ranking of each application and will present recommendations to the board for approval.

 

After review applicants will be notified by mail or e-mail of their acceptance. Notification will occur no later than 30 days from the application deadline.
