Academy Juniors Program

We are pleased to announce the official start of the JUSA Academy Jr’s program. This program is being offered to players who want additional training (outside of their recreational team) and who are capable of performing in a more structured, higher pace, technical environment. Players who are selected for this program will be placed in an environment that will challenge them physically, mentally, and improve their technique with the ball at an accelerated rate. This program has been designed to prepare our younger soccer stars for the next level of play which is our Academy program. More details are below and we hope to see you at our academy assessments on Saturday, March 4th.

For questions regarding this program please contact our Academy Director at

Spring 2017 Academy Jr's (7-8 Yr Olds Only)

Important: You must be signed up for Spring 2017 Recreation to participate in Academy Jr's.

Program Overview: The Academy Jr’s program is designed to challenge the more advanced younger player in preparation for the Academy. Players in the Academy Jr’s may be a bit more “advanced” in size, speed and or technical ability and will train with other similar players that we feel are prepared for more advanced technical training. Not all players are ready for this at such a young age but for those players that are, we offer the following:

  • A developmentally-appropriate curriculum developed by our Academy Director and lead taught by professional staff coaches that will challenge all of our Jr’s to reach their fullest potential.
  • Once-per-week outdoor training in the Fall and Spring seasons, to supplement your child’s team training which will offer more advanced training in a more structured environment.
  • Limited number of players based off of mental maturity, physical ability, and technical ability to challenge all players involved appropriately.

Curriculum: The curriculum features a heavy emphasis on individual ball mastery, allowing each player to become more comfortable, confident and creative with their foot skills, while nurturing their passion and enjoyment for soccer. Activities and games will follow the best practices of US Soccer and US Youth Soccer. Each week of training will feature a theme, which will build off the themes from previous weeks, including:

Dribbling for possession vs Dribbling to take on a defender
First touch Passing and receiving / Receiving and turning / Finishing and Ball-striking

There are a limited number of spots available and we will add players in groups of 12 so do not be alarmed if you are on an initial wait list. A post registration evaluation will be held on March 4 and further details will be communicated prior to that date.
